Booragoon Occasional Early Education (Child Care Centre) has been in operation since the 12th of March 1989 and is one of only a few occasional care centres in Perth. The centre is over seen by a voluntary management committee made up of family and community members, that currently meet bi-monthly to discuss the operations of the centre.
Hours of Operations 7:30am-5.00pm Monday - Friday
Cost $16.50 per hour, per child with rebates applicable to those families who have applied to centrelink.
Age range Booragoon Occasional Early Education caters to children aged between 6 weeks and 6 years. We have three rooms for children aged 0-2 years (Wombats), 2-3 years (Possums) and 3-6 years (Pre-Kindy/Joeys). Orientation When you join the centre, we strongly recommend bringing your child in for a short orientation visit before making a booking. An orientation visit can be 10-20 minutes, where your child has the opportunity to become familiar with their surroundings, meet their educators, and have a play, while their parent or guardian is present. This also provides an opportunity for parents to ask educators any lingering questions they may have regarding the centre. There is no charge and no booking needed for an orientation visit to the centre, however we recommend visiting from 9am-12pm or 3pm-4pm for children over 2 years old, and 9am-11am or 12pm-4pm for children under 24 months. After their initial orientation visit, we recommend making bookings of one hour, until your child is comfortable and confident in care. After their first booking you can discuss extending your bookings for a longer period of time with your child's educators. Although the above is highly recommended we do understand that some situations may not allow for the full orientation process. In these circumstances the centre requires a fully completed enrolment form for legal reasons before a child can be left in our care. All parents/guardians must allow time to complete an enrolment form before their first booking.
Child Care Subsidy To claim CCS you must contact centre link and apply for a Family Reference Number (FRN) and Child Reference Number (CRN), which must be included on the enrolment form, families cannot claim without these numbers. Click Here For More Information or call 13 61 50
Bookings Centre bookings can be made up to a month in advance. The first of every month sees the following month open for bookings, however bookings can be made with as little as an hours notice if space is available. A family can contact the centre during opening hours to find what is available for the current day, current week, the following week, month, or a specific date & time falling within that period. If the particular day and time requested is unavailable, families can request to be placed on the waiting list for that particular date and will be contacted if there is a cancellation. There is a minimum booking of 1 hour and bookings can be extended by the half hour after that up to the full 9.5 hours the centre is open. Once bookings have been made we require 24 hours notice to cancel with no fees being charged. There are "permanent" places available for families wishing to use us continuously same day and time every week, however these places are limited as our main purpose as a service is to provide occasional care. Permanent bookings, and the waitlist for them, can be discussed with the director.
Payment options Payments are to be made on your child's last visit for the week. They can be made in person with eftpos or via direct debit. Educators The majority of our permanent educators have been with the centre for 5-17 years. All group leading educators are qualified with a Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care or ACECQA approved equivalent training and have regulation first aid training. Meals Booragoon Occasional Early Education does not provide food. There is no cook on the premises, therefore families are asked to provide meals for their children during their stay. Please visit the pages for each age group for the routine for meals and the necessary items to be packed.
